Fishing At Shaver Lake

March 18, 2008

Shaver Lake is an ultimate destination for avid anglers looking to hook up a German brown, rainbow trout, Kokanne salmon, small mouth bass, bluegill or catfish. The lake is open year around for fishing and state fishing regulations apply. Nearby creeks and streams also have seasonal closures.

Rainbow Trout - Troll in spring, summer and fall near the marina, dam and creek inlets. DRIFTING BAIT IS PRODUCTIVE IN TUNNEL CREEK INLET AND EDISON CAMPGROUND COVE.

Kokanee Salmom - Trolling excellent in summer and early fall. Use spinners, spoons, and Kokanee Bugs with white corn or crawlers behind dodgers or flashers. Use a depth finder to determine the level that fish are concentrated.

Brown Trout - Troll or cast Rebels, Rapalas, and other lures along shoreline in spring and fall.

Smallmouth Bass - Fishing is best in spring and fall. Fish crayfish imitations, grubs, crankbaits and jigs off rocky points.

Areas and depths for Kokanee

Concentrate from the north side of the damn down towards the "point" in the summer and In the early and late seasons check the coves like boy scout or dorabele. Troll slow and in at least 50 ft of water with the lures working from 10 to 50 ft in the shallows and up to 75 ft in the center of the lake around black rock and damn areas. Good luck and dont forget the Captain Jack tackle made here in shaver!
