In the real estate business, the primary focus is the customer. With today's technology, many agents work very effectively from their homes. This makes life a lot simpler if you have children or other responsibilities. However, in a resort community, our first contact with a client is typically at the office. This means that to build a client base, you must spend some time (weekends are best) in the office to meet  clients. After you have a few years of experience under your belt, and if you have provided excellent customer service, you can start to do a lot more business from home or elsewhere, while still earning a reasonable living.  Real Estate agents are to a large degree in business for themselves, so your success depends on your level of commitment of time and energy.
