Shaver Lake is located along Highway 168 in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, approximately an hours drive from Fresno. The small community of Shaver Lake is named for the lake that lies at the 5,500-foot level inside the Sierra National Forest. This pristine mountain lake offers wonderful fishing and boating opportunities; water skiing and lots of other water related activities. There is also camping, hiking, mountain biking and back packing and horse pack trips available in the Shaver Lake area. Summer is the busiest time for Shaver Lake, and winter offers a more quiet time as skiers pass through the town on their way to the Sierra Summit Ski Resort. There are SnoPlay areas around Shaver Lake that are open in winter and the town is magical when it’s lit up for the holidays! For a special Springtime treat, take Tollhouse Road off Highway 168 near Shaver Lake to view the wildflowers that are in bloom, small waterfalls and rolling hills covered with oak trees. Mountain and lakeside cabin rentals area available in Shaver Lake for visitors, as well as hotels and several picturesque bed and breakfasts. Shaver Lake is a well-kept secret in central California that offers lots of outdoors recreation opportunities as well as a peaceful place to get away from it all.
