Adequate
Reviewed by moosika We arrived at the house around 8:30 in the evening, the house was a cool 55 degrees and because it was so cold out side it took quite a long time to get the temp to a comfortable 68 degrees. When I spoke to someone in your office the day before they indicated that the house would be heated form us on the day of arrival. I expected it to be a bit warmer. We had paid for linen service, no linens at all in the house. We called the emergency number and the person on call brought the linens but said he wasn't paid to make up the beds. We had very tired children and by the time we ourselves got the beds made up it was way past their bedtime. We only received 30$ off of the linen fee which I felt was not enough when we had to do the work and the linens were old and torn. For a well recommended rental company your service is quite poor. In general the house was comfortable. The heater was very loud and had to be run almost constantly to keep the house in the 60's.
Not what I expected.
Reviewed by fresnofireguy This cabin was nice and did had the ammenities that were in the description, although Shaver Lake rentals could not guarantee that any ammenity would "be in working condition". The cabin was not clean upon our arrival, which delayed our plans for the day. Upon notification of the situation, Shaver Lake Rentals did send the cleaning crew back out the cabin to re-clean it. There were several items broken and/or missing in cabin. (i.e. towel racks, chairs, tables) When we notified Shaver Lake Rentals of this, they said they would put a work order in and have it repaired, but the items were broken for our stay. I guess the expectation of a clean, well working cabin was not realistic.
Stay was just OK...
Reviewed by sharonestes Overall contact with Shaver Laker Vacation Rental staff was good. Communication was clear and prompt. Contract was straight forward. The price of the rental seemed good for the size (to accommodate our large family). Check in was easy and maps were clear. Office staff was friendly and helpful.
The cabin itself was spacious and nice at first glance. The layout was great and spacious. Once we were unpacked, the ants invaded the kitchen, so we could not set any food on the counters. It was a challenge finding spots to put it that would not get ants! There was a leak under the sink. Decks were covered with dust and pollen. I would think that cleaning with a blower and/or hosing it off would have removed most of that. The advertised "third" deck upstairs was unusable, with plywood, leaves and dirt covering it. The loft had spider webs and a black widow spider was found near the mattresses. The mattresses themselves had spots and stains on them (???) Even with a sheet covering them, what were we sleeping on? The steps up to the loft were creaky and a bit precarious.
What appeared to be a reasonable rate at time of booking felt like an overcharge for what we received after the stay was complete. I think the owners could clean things up a bit more if it continues to be advertised as posted. I would not recommend this rental in its current condition as posted!
Recommendations:
1. Regular spray for ants. We battled these in our own home in the valley and a regular service was what finally got rid of them.
2. Get third deck cleaned up. Clean others before rental.
3. Minor repairs, ie. leak under sink, DVD players.
4. Spray inside for spiders. A simple, people-friendly spray around the baseboards and under beds on a monthly basis would probably do it. A thorough vacuuming of the area before a rental stay begins would also take care of this.
***Give me a few free nights and I'll clean it up good!***

Reviewed by nvb We enjoyed this home very much, the only issue we had was that we felt like we were being nickeled and dimed by all the fees, the cleaning fee and the booking fee were fine but the linen fee just put it over the top, we would have like the nightly rental fee to be a little higher and had sheets included on the beds.
Other than that we really enjoyed the home.
